Ethical fashion brand Fair Indigo was founded in 2006 by apparel industry veterans to create change in fashion. Their organic Peruvian Pima cotton is grown by two family farms in the Andean highlands, where farmers weave and harvest the cotton completely by hand to ensure its superior quality. The brand is most widely known for their organic cotton leggings and women’s basics, but Fair Indigo also offers men’s pima cotton t-shirts, kids organic stuffed animals, and ethically made gifts like socks and throws.
Why pima cotton? “Pima is an ELS (extra long staple) cotton. It’s significantly softer, stronger, and longer-lasting that other cottons. It beautifully resists pilling, shrinking, and disintegrating in your laundry.” And cotton consumes 25% of all pesticides, despite only occupying 3% of the world’s farmland. So organic pima cotton offers the highest quality with the lowest impact.
Fair Indigo also operates a nonprofit foundation supporting education for children in the Peruvian communities they work in.
